Earlier today, we found out that US journalist Cody Weddle was detained in Venezuela.
We have a positive update. He’s been released.
Venezuelan authorities released Local 10 reporter Cody Weddle on Wednesday night more than 10 hours after agents took him from his apartment.
Weddle said he is at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetia waiting to board a flight back to the United States.
His mother, Sherry Weddle, who is in Virginia, said she was relieved to learn of the news.
“When is he coming home?”
As of 8:20 p.m., Weddle couldn’t answer the question. He said Venezuelan counterintelligence agents left him in the custody of Venezuelan immigration officials at the airport who told him he was going to be deported. He was expecting to be back in South Florida by Thursday.
Fine. Just bring him back home.
Exactly.
