For those who haven’t been paying attention, Nicolás Maduro is doing his best to keep humanitarian aid out of Venezuela, because he loves him some socialism and wants his people to starve. His forces are straight up lighting humanitarian aid trucks on fire. It’s awful.
#Venezuela 🇻🇪: trucks carrying hard-needed humanitarian aid are burning on the border with #Colombia, reportedly after #GNB forces fired tear gas canister into the vehicles.

It’s utter chaos. Put politics aside. In the very least, we should be able to agree that these trucks full of humanitarian aid should be able to get into the country to help the starved and desperate people. Right?
Nope. Not if your name is Democratic Sen Chris Murphy.
Isn’t it amazing how he managed to make this about #resisting Trump? Agreeing that Maduro’s forces shouldn’t stop humanitarian aid trucks and LIGHT THEM ON FIRE ≠ taking over and assisting in regime change.
In light of tonight’s Venezuela thread, re-linking my longer piece with @brhodes. We argue that U.S. had legitimate interests in weakening Maduro. And we believe in democracy promotion in Venezuela. We just worry Trump is doing it very badly. https://t.co/IKtFEeMWKc

I know it’s a complicated issue, but Murphy’s TDS is far too obvious here, and it’s irritating.
