Kamala Harris wants to ditch private insurance. She said that. Out loud. In front of people.
During CNN’s town hall, she said, “I believe the solution — and I actually feel very strongly about this — is that we need to have Medicare for all. That’s just the bottom line.”
You hear that? It’s the sound of quality health care dying.
“So for people out there who like their insurance, they don’t get to keep it?” Tapper asked.
“Let’s eliminate all of that,” Harris said. “Let’s move on.”
If you like your plan, you CANNOT keep your plan. It’s time for Big Daddy government to take over all of your health care needs. *shudders*
There’s seriously nothing scarier than that. She even freaked some Democrats out. Feinstein straight up said, “Well I’m not there,” and Kaine said, “I’m not going to say you have to give it up…I think the idea is to offer a nonprofit insurance plan as an option.”
Interestingly enough, she quickly “modified” her position.
By stating she would eliminate private insurers as a necessary part of implementing “Medicare-for-all,” California Sen. Kamala Harris during a CNN town hall Monday night sent a shockwave through the national health care debate.
. . . As the furor grew, a Harris adviser on Tuesday signaled that the candidate would also be open to the more moderate health reform plans, which would preserve the industry, being floated by other congressional Democrats. It represents a compromise position that risks angering “Medicare-for-all” proponents, who view eliminating private health insurance as key to enacting their comprehensive reform.
It doesn’t matter what she says at this point. We know what she REALLY wants, and it’s scary as heck.
