Savannah Guthrie got a ton of hate for interviewing Covington Catholic student Nicholas Sandmann.
I watched the interview and thought Sandmann handled himself very well. He was respectful, but he didn’t back down. He ultimately wishes he would’ve walked away, but at the end of the day, he didn’t go out of his way to “harass” or “intimidate” Phillips.
“In hindsight, I wish we could’ve walked away and avoided the whole thing.”

If anything, Phillips should apologize for mischaracterizing the incident and misrepresenting his “service” in Vietnam.
Speaking of, Guthrie spoke to him today, and whaddya know. He’s still trying to keep his side of the story alive.
“Did you hear anyone say ‘build that wall’? It isn't audible on the video clips I think that are out there. But did you hear that?” @savannahguthrie asks Nathan Phillips
“You know, I did hear that.” -Phillips pic.twitter.com/n7fHHDzkX2

They were doing SCHOOL CHEERS. You can’t hear ANYONE shout “build that wall” in the video.
Also, this question makes me mad.

Why isn’t she asking Phillips if HE should apologize for going up to the kid and drumming in his face?
“I asked the young man this question. I’ll ask you the same thing…Should you have walked away?” @savannahguthrie to Nathan Phillips
“That’s what I was trying to do.” -Phillips pic.twitter.com/pvdgLGw6G4

That’s what he was trying to do? BULLCRAP!!!!!!!! Wow.
PS:
“There has also been some question about the nature of your military service… What exactly is the nature of your service?” @savannahguthrie asks Nathan Phillips pic.twitter.com/PSeS1oTYGh

Bottom line? Phillips a victim in his own mind, but it’s OK, because he forgives the kid. You know. For standing.

“Coached and written up for him. Insincerity. Lack of responsibility. Those are the words I came up with, but then I went to go pray about it,” Phillips said. “And then I woke up, and I woke up with this forgiving heart. So I forgive him.”
Good for you. You forgave a kid for standing while you beat a drum in his face. Gold star.
Here’s the full interview.
