Pelosi Rejects President Trump’s Proposal, Calls It A ‘Non-Starter’
January 19, 2019President Trump just delivered his highly anticipated statement on the government shutdown/border security crisis. He didn’t declare a national emergency. Rather, he offered a new deal to Democrats: A temporary DACA/TPS deal in exchange for border wall funding.
He said the deal isn’t supposed to solve our LONG-TERM problems, but it solves the current problem (AKA the government shutdown).

Democrats will likely reject this, and I’m sure President Trump is expecting them to. It might be all part of the play. Now we’ll be able to say, “Hey. Trump tried to compromise, and you didn’t.” More importantly, Trump will be able to say that he tried to negotiate, but Pelosi wouldn’t, thereby making a national emergency seem more acceptable.
Like I said before, it’s like a giant game of political chess.
