Massive Group Of Migrants ‘Tunnels’ Under Our Border

No matter what kind of wall we end up building on the border, it needs to have some sort of mechanism to prevent this kind of stuff from happening.

According to this, a large group of migrants managed to tunnel underneath our border fence.

The largest single group of migrant families and minors ever recorded in the Yuma area tunneled underneath a border fence and voluntarily turned themselves in to U.S. Border Patrol agents, according to Customs and Border Protection officials in Arizona.

A group of 376 migrants, composed almost overwhelmingly of Guatemalan families and children seeking asylum, breached the U.S.-Mexico border just before noon Monday, approximately 4½ miles east of the San Luis commercial port of entry.

Customs and Border Protection officials disclosed details of the incident on Friday, releasing videos and photos showing the migrants walking along the U.S. side of the border fence and waiting in line for agents to process them.

A spokesman for Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector said that smugglers assisted the migrants in digging seven holes “underneath the bollard-style fence and the metal plates welded to the bottom of the barriers.”

“The bollards, when they were put in, they didn’t have concrete footers, because it wasn’t designed to stop from digging under, it was designed to stop the vehicle traffic,” agent Jose Garibay said.

So no. There’s no a-ha! from Pelosi. Obviously, the new wall should have a little somthin’ somethin’ to make it harder to dig underneath it.

It’s not that walls are useless. Walls are meant to stop easy foot traffic. Walls are meant to give Border Patrol time to catch the freaks who are trying to climb the wall our dig underneath it.

I know nothing is foolproof, but it’s foolish to say, “See! A wall is INEFFECTIVE.” Why? Because a bunch of people worked for hours and hours and HOURS to dig holes to get in? Would it have been better if they were able to waltz on over in 2 seconds flat? Again, it’s as dumb as saying you shouldn’t put front doors with locks on your house, because if someone works hard and wants to get in bad enough, they can make a way.

Anyway.

There were 176 minors in the group, and 30 of them were unaccompanied. The group was  so massive that agents had to pull from other resources. There were only three agents patrolling that 26-mile long section. ONLY THREE.

Since the group was so large, the Border Patrol had to pull agents from other assignments to help process and transport the migrants using any vehicles at their disposal, including patrol cars, vans and buses that “had to make several trips,” he added.

That’s not an ideal situation for anyone.

Build the wall that goes deep into the group. Put a moat around it. I don’t care. Do SOMETHING. The lawlessness must stop.
