January 19, 2019I’m not a fan of Shepard Smith. While I don’t like his style or political-leanings, those aren’t the reasons I dislike him. He pretends to an objective journalist. THAT’S what gets to me. He seems to truly believe he projects objectivity.
He doesn’t. He doesn’t like President Trump and doesn’t seem to care if the world knows it.
He recently had an ~interesting~ conversation with Chris Wallace. They were talking about the shutdown, and Shep placed all the blame on Trump. Wallace responded with a cliché “It takes two to tango” line, but Shep rejected that concept.
“There’s no tango here,” Shep said. “The president said, ’I’m shutting the government down.”
Wallace pointed out that Trump promised to shut the government down “unless they gave him funding for the wall, which Democrats refused to do.” So really, the blame could be put on either side, depending on how you’re looking at it. Yes, Trump could agree to no wall funding, and the government could FULLY open, OR Democrats could simply agree to include the wall funding, and the government could FULLY open.
“They [Democrats] won 40 seats plus in the House of Representatives and they’re not giving him a wall,” Shep added.
So that’s his argument. Democratic lawmakers are running on their campaign promises by saying no to the wall. However, the same could be said for Trump. He promised a wall, and he can’t get away with not delivering.

Shep’s deliberately ignoring the Democrats’ role in this shutdown, and it’s intellectually dishonest. There’s simply no other way to put it.
Petty politics aside, it’s important that we get this wall. Our national security is at stake.
