This is the dumbest controversy I’ve seen in a while.
Vice President Mike Pence’s wife, Karen Pence, has a new job. She’s teaching art classes at a Christian elementary school– Immanuel Christian School in Northern Virginia, specifically.
No big deal, right? WRONG.
You see, MSM is outraged, because this is a private Christian school that doesn’t want to deal with progressive idiocy like parents who think their kid expressing “gender fluidity” is cute and normal. Wowowowow RUN FOR THE HILLS! So hateful!
“It’s absurd that her decision to teach art to children at a Christian school, and the school’s religious beliefs, are under attack,” Karen Pence’s spokeswoman, Kara Brooks, said.
In other words, this school has Actual Standards. MSM’s headlines are all “Second Lady Karen Pence Hired By School That Bans Gay and Transgender Students” and “The school that hired Karen Pence requires applicants to disavow gay marriage, trans identity” and “Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans LGBTQ Employees And Kids.”
The school has an application for teachers and staff, and a bunch of it has to do with upholding basic Christian values. GASP!
“Moral misconduct which violates the bona fide occupational qualifications for employees includes, but is not limited to, such behaviors as the following: heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g., premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex), homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female, sexual harassment, use or viewing of pornographic material or websites.”
MSM is acting like this school is specifically targeting the LGBT community, and I’m just wondering if they can read, because they also don’t want their employees to be straight wh*res or polygamists or sexual harassers or porn addicts. I think the headlines should include that. You know, to be fair. “Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans LGBTQ Employees And Kids And Wh*res.”
Additionally, the parents have to sign an agreement, which you can read right here. Libs are freaking out over this part in particular:
I understand the biblical role of Immanuel Christian School is to partner with families to encourage students to be imitators of Christ. This necessarily involves the school’s understanding and belief regarding biblical morality and standards of conduct. I understand that the school reserves the right, within its sole discretion, to refuse admission to an applicant or to discontinue enrollment of a student if the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home, the activities of a parent or guardian, or the activities of the student are counter to, or are in opposition to, the biblical lifestyle the school teaches. This includes, but is not limited to contumacious behavior, divisive conduct, and participating in, supporting, or condoning sexual immorality, homosexual activity or bi-sexual activity, promoting such practices, or being unable to support the moral principles of the school. (Lev. 20:13 and Romans 1:27.) I acknowledge the importance of a family culture based on biblical principles and embrace biblical family values such as a healthy marriage between one man and one woman. My role as spiritual mentor to my children will be taken seriously.
Look. I went to a Christian school from the time I was in 4th grade until I graduated high school. I don’t know if my parents had to sign some sort of agreement, but I know they put me in a Christian school for a reason. They hated the public school atmosphere. When they sent me to a Christian school, I’m sure they were fully expecting the school to abide by the moral standards rooted in our Biblical faith. That’s kinda sorta the point.
I don’t even remember talking about stuff like homosexuality or transgenderism in school. (It wasn’t as “in your face” back then.) Our teachers and staff members just constantly drove the message of the LOVE of Jesus into our heads.
Parents send their kids to Christian schools because they want their kids out of the progressive brainwashing culture dominating our society. That’s all there is to it.
There is a right and wrong, but “progressive” ideology encourages that “you do you” culture. Proponents characterize those who oppose the “everything is permissible” culture as intolerant bigots.
Perhaps there are some Christians who haven’t been good representatives of Christ, but the truth is, there is a RIGHT and a WRONG. It’s not subjective. Truth isn’t subjective. It’s not attached to your feelings. You can say that, stand on it and raise your kids to know that and still love your neighbors as yourself.
This ridiculous outrage over Karen Pence teaching at a Christian school is yet another stunning example of how gross and disconnected the “progressive” culture truly is.
