Abortion Named #1 Cause Of Death In 2018

The numbers don’t lie.

According to this, abortion was the #1 cause of death in 2018. Over 41 million children were murdered before they had the chance to be born last year.

As of December 31, 2018, there have been some 41.9 million abortions performed in the course of the year, Worldometers revealed. By contrast, 8.2 million people died from cancer in 2018, 5 million from smoking, and 1.7 million died of HIV/AIDS.

Worldometers — voted one of the best free reference websites by the American Library Association (ALA) — keeps a running tally through the year of major world statistics, including population, births, deaths, automobiles produced, books published, and CO2 emissions.

It gets worse. Slightly less than a quarter of all pregnancies were terminated in 2018.

There were more deaths from abortion in 2018 than all deaths from cancer, malaria, HIV/AIDS, smoking, alcohol, and traffic accidents combined.

Let that sink in. And let it sink in that this is happening to the most INNOCENT beings in our society.

Snopes took on the claim but was unable to actually dispute it. It’s true. Millions of babies were killed. Snopes tried to dismiss it by describing abortion as a “medical procedure” rather than the blatant act of snuffing out an innocent life.

Stating that abortion is the “leading cause of death” worldwide (as opposed to a medical procedure) is a problematic pronouncement, because that stance takes a political position, one which is at odds with the scientific/medical world. The medical community does not confer personhood upon fetuses that are not viable outside the womb, so counting abortion as a “cause of death” does not align with the practices of health organizations such as WHO and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as Heather Boonstra, director of public policy for the reproductive health research organization Guttmacher Institute, told us:

Abortion is a legal, constitutionally protected medical procedure in the United States. It’s not considered a cause of death by CDC, WHO and other leading authorities, and statistics on induced abortion are excluded in the CDC’s national fetal-death statistics.

The legal, philosophical, religious, and scientific arenas provide no definitive answers as to when personhood begins.

Legality changes nothing. It’s snuffing out the life of someone who would otherwise be here. Did they have a heartbeat? Did you deliberately stop it?
