AOC Compares Herself To Abraham Lincoln And Touts The Glories Of High Tax Rates

You’ve probably heard this quote before.

“If you’re not a liberal when you’re 25, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative by the time you’re 35, you have no brain.”

Tweak the age as you wish, but the basic message is pretty spot on. I was one of the only outspoken conservatives on my campus, and people hated me without reason. I wasn’t obnoxious. I didn’t organize protests or political events. I was just a girl who had a different opinion and made that opinion known in the classroom. I was sick and tired of nonsensical ramblings going unchallenged. Those who know me know I’m usually pretty quiet. I listen and take things in, but college changed me. I couldn’t sit there and take it. My experience in school shaped me to be bolder and more outspoken. It sucked at the time, but it was a blessing in disguise.

I remember listening to my classmates having conversations about social programs and taxes and yada yada yada. Most of them were really into the idea of raising taxes. What did they care? It wouldn’t affect them…yet. I’ve always hated the concept of higher taxes, but there’s a difference between knowing it’s messed up and actually experiencing it.

My stance totally went to another level the day I had to physically write my first multi-thousand dollar check to the IRS. Most “kids” in college aren’t at that point. They’re not writing out monster checks to the IRS. But now? I often wonder if my classmates landed jobs in their fields. I wanna know if they’ve tweaked their stance on high taxation.

It didn’t change mind. It made me hate high taxes even more.

That being said, we can classify Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as an individual without a brain. I don’t care if she’s not 35 yet.

She thinks it’s reasonable to tax people at a rate as high as 70%.

She sat down for an interview with “60 Minutes.” It’ll air this weekend, but CBS dropped a preview. She was asked about how we’d pay for her new “Green Deal,” and she didn’t hesitate. Tax the rich, duh. She looooooooves the progressive tax rate system!

“There’s an element where, yeah, people are going to have to start paying their fair share in taxes,” she said. “You look at our tax rates back in the 60s and when you have a progressive tax rate system, your tax rate, say, from zero to $75,000 may be 10 percent or 15 percent, etc.”

“But once you get to like the tippy-tops, on your ten-millionth dollar, sometimes you see tax rates as high as 60 or 70 percent,” she continued.

“It means that as you climb up this ladder, you should be contributing more,” she added.

The more successful businesses and individuals are, the more they should be punished by the government. Got it?

Why should someone be PUNISHED for making more money? You’re literally incentivizing people to make LESS money. How is that good for the economy? How is that good for business? How is that good for anyone?

Just because you’re a millionaire doesn’t mean you owe 70% of ANY portion of your earnings to ANYONE. That’s criminal. That’s theft.

By the way, AOC thinks she’s as “radical” as Abraham Lincoln.

“I think it has only ever been radicals who have changed this country,” she said. “Abraham Lincoln made the radical decision to sign the Emancipation Proclamation. Franklin Delano Roosevelt made the radical decision to embark on establishing programs like Social Security. That is radical.”

“Do you call yourself a radical?” Anderson Cooper asked.

“Yeah. You know if that’s what radical means, call me a radical,” she said.

If she means radically stupid, I completely agree.
