This Year’s New Year’s Ball Drop Is Going To Be Political

I know you probably wanted to kick the new year off with a good attitude and no political nonsense, but sadly, MSM cannot get on board with that. In fact, they’re making this year’s New Year’s ball drop political. This year, the ball drop is going to be dedicated to “protecting the freedom of the press.”

The Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment have named the Committee to Protect Journalists — the media watchdog group that released its annual prison census findings this month — as this year’s charity honoree.

“On New Year’s Eve we look back and reflect on the major events of the past year, we look forward with a sense of hope, and we celebrate the people and things we value most,” Tim Tompkins, president of the Times Square Alliance, said in a statement. “This year, we’re celebrating the free press and journalism and those who work to protect, preserve and practice it.”

It sounds fine on the surface, but we all know the REAL message they’re trying to send. This is about Donald Trump. This is dig. It’s so dumb. These morons equate calling out #FakeNews with being anti-First Amendment.

Even ABC admitted it.

The recognition comes as several world leaders, including President Donald Trump, have lashed out against journalists in 2018. The U.S. president has repeatedly referred to the press as the “enemy of the people” and described their work as “fake news.”

Wrong. He said FAKE NEWS is the enemy of the people. Deliberately misleading the American people isn’t cool, and it’s not bad to point that out.

There you go. That’s what the ball drop is dedicated to. Sorry about that.
