As predicted, the Senate passed a short-term spending bill to avoid a government shutdown. It sustains the government through Feb. 8th, but there’s no funding for the wall, which means we’ll revisit the wall funding debate yet again in a few months.
Are Republicans stupid? Do they really believe the debate will be easier when Democrats are in charge of the House?
I’m so disgusted. A government shutdown ISN’T EVEN A BIG DEAL. My bank’s website has a section full of FAQs about the shutdown, and I went through them. It’s so ridic, because if you read the questions and answers, you see that literally NOTHING REALLY CHANGES. Some national parks close up shop for a few days. WHO FREAKING CARES?
Rush Limbaugh has the greatest take. He said Trump should veto the bill, demand the $5 billion for the wall, leave for Mar-a-Lago and stick his middle finger out the window on his way out of town. OK, OK, I added that last part, but I think it’d be a nice touch.
Shortly after the election into the transition into Trump’s first term, all we kept hearing from the Drive-Bys was, ‘This man doesn’t know the Constitution! He doesn’t care. He’s gonna become a dictator!” Dictator? I don’t know what Trump is thinking about. I’ll tell you what he ought to do, my humble opinion. I just saw on Fox everybody’s breathless. (impression) “The budget deal! It might be signed. We’re down to the wire.” I get so sick and tired of this! It’s a game! It’s not even real!
A government shutdown never hurts a damn soul, and every year at this time, “The government might shut down! It might shut down! It might shut down!” Trump should not sign this bill and leave for Mar-a-Lago, and tell them it’s not gonna get signed and their precious government’s not gonna get back up and running ’til there’s $5 billion. What are they gonna do? Impeach him? Huh?
Yes, yes, YES.
Remember– Trump said he’d be “proud” to shut down the government over border wall funding. So what are you waiting for, Mr. President? DO IT. Demand the $5 billion for the wall and shut it down.
