I don’t mean to laugh. There’s nothing all that funny about the situation… but for some reason it still sort of made me snort.
It’s all so ironic, (don’t you think?)
A Muncie, Indiana (Home of Ball State) mom has been arrested after leaving her two young children home alone…watching Home Alone.
According to Fox 59 Indianapolis:
Police in Muncie say they found a 7-year-old boy and his 4-year-old brother watching “Home Alone” while their mother was away at work.
Muncie police say the boys’ mom said she couldn’t find a sitter so she told the older son to stay home from school with the younger sibling Tuesday. The Star Press reports that she was arrested on a charge of neglect of a dependent.
See what I mean?
It sorta-kinda makes you laugh.
It also makes me wonder – at what age can kids stay alone? Sure, 7 and 4 seems young. But I used to stay and watch my 7-year-old brother when I was 11 if my parents had a quick errand to run or something. Never more than an hour or two, I don’t think.
I was taking full babysitting jobs at 13.
Every kid is different. I, for instance, stopped GROWING when I was 9. I basically looked the same plus stupid hair. Some 9-year-olds I see look like ACTUAL BABIES.
