It Sounds Like The Border Wall Funding Debate Will See Another Massive Delay

Bad news. The border wall funding debate is getting the boot. For now, that is.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Wednesday his plan to avoid a government shutdown. It’s a short-term bill to fund the government through the beginning of February and– surprise surprise– there’s no money for the wall.

Democrats support the measure, which is pretty telling.

“Yesterday, we made some progress. Thankfully, President Trump appears to have backed down from demanding $5 billion for a border wall,” Schumer said. “Insistence on $5 billion for a wall has been the biggest obstacle for keeping the government open past Friday.”

This is ridiculous. We just pledged over $10 billion in foreign aid to Central America, but we can’t fund a freaking WALL? This is insanity.

Sarah Sanders told Fox News that this doesn’t mean the fight is over.

“We have other ways that we can get to that $5 billion,” she said. “We don’t want to shut down the government, we want to shut down the border from illegal immigration.”

Goodie. I can’t wait to have this fruitless debate all over again in February. //sarc.
