I absolutely want Republicans to keep the House, but I’m just as worried about a few gubernatorial races. Those seem to get a tad bit less attention, but they’re just as important.
They’re all REALLY close races. Uncomfortably close.
Even though Gillum is leading in the polls in Florida, my gut tells me that DeSantis is going to pull it off. People are FIRED UP in my area of Florida. My dad voted early last week and called me after, because he was shocked by the sheer volume of people there voting their butts off. The voter enthusiasm among Republicans is up. No doubt. In fact, early voting is seeing record highs in the state.
Turnout this election cycle is almost double what it was in 2014, according to West Palm Beach’s WPTV.
The News-Press reported that as of Friday, more than 4.1 million Floridians had already cast a ballot via early voting or absentee ballots. In 2014, 3.1 million early ballots were cast.
Holy crap! It begs the question: Who’s turning up? Republicans or Democrats? Republicans are leading statewide.
New data released Friday shows that Republicans are leading in early voting turnout statewide by about 60,000 ballots, though Democrats are leading in urban areas, according to the paper.
This isn’t just happening in Florida either. Over 4.5 million people have voted early in Texas. That’s more than the ENTIRE voter turnout in 2014.
According to The Texas Tribune, over 4,500,000 people in Texas casted in-person ballots in this year’s early voting period and more than 360,000 people have cast mail-in ballots in 30 counties alone.
Hmmm. Is that due to Democrats coming out in support of Beto, or Republicans coming out in droves to CRUSH Beto? I don’t know!
Bring on Tuesday. I can hardly wait.
