DNC Chair Admits That There Probably Won’t Be A ‘Blue Wave’

This is awkward. What do you do when the chair of your OWN PARTY admits that your rallying cry for the midterm elections is kind of a pipe dream?

That happened.

DNC Chair Tom Perez appeared on CNN and said that he doesn’t use the term “blue wave,” because it’s going to be a close one.

“We always knew that this election was going to be close — I don’t use the term ‘blue wave,’ I always talk about the need for the blocking and tackling,” Perez said.

Who’s “we”? Because “Wait for the BLUE WAAAAAAVE” is all I’ve heard from #resisters and celebs over the past 6 months. You know how many blue wave emojis are in those people’s Twitter handles? Go look.

I think there’s a legitimate possibility that we could lose the House, but you know what? The polls could be wrong. They have been before. Look at 2016.

No matter WHAT though, I don’t see a blue wave on the horizon. At most, a baby splash, and even that’s iffy.

Damage control *before* November 6? Hmm. Man, if the DNC doesn’t grab the House, heads be rolling…
