Megyn Kelly hasn’t made any headlines lately. How SHE doin’? (Say it like Joey Tribbiani.)
She’s in trouble for “defending” blackface.
It all went down during a roundtable discussion on offensive Halloween costumes. Kelly basically said she doesn’t understand why people get offended when a white person darkens their skin to dress up as a specific black person or when a black person lightens their skin to dress up as a specific white person.
“But what is racist?” Kelly asked. “Because you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween.”
“Back when I was a kid that was ok, as long as you were dressing up as, like, a character,” she continued.
Later in the conversation, she mentioned the backlash Luann de Lesseps got for dressing up as Diana Ross.
“She dressed as Diana Ross and she made her skin look darker than it really is. And people said that was racist, and I don’t know. I thought, like, who doesn’t love Diana Ross? She wants to look like Diana Ross for one day? I don’t know how that got racist on Halloween,” Kelly explained, before adding, “I can’t keep up with the number of people we’re offending just by being normal people,” Kelly said at the end of the discussion.”

@NBCNews @TODAYshow It is time to end this ridiculous @megynkelly experiment and pay her to leave the network. This is not only tone deaf, she's flat out racist. I was not raised to think blackface was ok and I'm 46, from small town in PA.

I thought this might have been an exaggeration, but no, Megyn Kelly is really doing a “I don’t see what’s so offensive about blackface” https://t.co/xtECr43UMg

And, yet again we have white people discussing why blackface is offensive with no black people on panel to explain why white people JUST SHOULDN'T DO IT!

I cannot believe the ignorance on this in 2018. You are on national television. You have a responsibility to educate yourself on social issues @megynkelly. This is so damaging. https://t.co/R7UJzkDDG9 https://t.co/7qFkqGHfGJ

Really @megynkelly? You don’t realize how disrespectful & tone deaf blackface is given the history racist caricatures? You make it so difficult to respect you as an informed journalist. 🙄 https://t.co/Z019Cr9Dsd

Yes, Megyn Kelly is a racist right-wing reactionary.
No, NBC—which is owned by Comcast—doesn't care.
