Vandal Sticks Googly Eyes To Revolutionary War Monument

I am by NO means condoning vandalism, but I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and just saw the picture (I hadn’t read the story yet), and I laughed out loud.

Someone glued googly eyes to a Revolutionary War monument.

It looks HILARIOUS, but it’s incredibly disrespectful and wrong. Both can be true.

City officials are working to find the person responsible for placing googly eyes on the Nathanael Greene Monument in Johnson Square.

Early Thursday afternoon, officers with the Savannah Police Department (SPD) responded to the square for a report of a trespass.

According to a police report, one officer confirmed the googly eyes were, in fact, on the monument in the center of the square.

Thankfully, the monument was NOT damaged at all.
