Hurricane Florence is barreling down on the Carolinas. It’s expected to make landfall on Thursday/Friday and LINGER, resulting in historic flooding. North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia have issued evacuation orders.
In Charleston, S.C., a major interstate is reversing direction for about 100 miles, sending every lane inland — even earlier than originally shceduled.
In the Outer Banks, N.C., where tourists and residents rely on a few bridges and ferries for access to the mainland, authorities are warning residents to get out immediately.
And in coastal Virginia, where the sun is shining and the sky is blue, the state’s emergency management website crashed as hundreds of thousands of people tried to look up the mandatory evacuation maps.
Here’s the latest track via NHC:
I feel for everyone in harm’s way. For crying out loud– I live on the east coast of Florida. I know how it goes.
All that being said, LOOK AT THIS. The Cajun Navy– the group of citizens who assisted in recovery efforts in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina– is already on it.
The Cajun Navy, the famous volunteer rescue group that formed in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, is in Columbia, South Carolina, with at least two air boats and 600 Jeeps ahead of Hurricane Florence

A lot of people are saying that CNN’s report is wrong. They’re not there YET, but they’re headed that way and ready to help.
This isn't true. But, the Cajun Navy volunteers will be in SC soon https://t.co/xCNkAVP7sL https://t.co/3IsZArFzCO

Just spoke to the OG Cajun Navy (there are a lot of splinter groups). They are not currently here in Columbia. They are going to head to smaller towns that desperately need rescue help across the Carolinas. https://t.co/3IsZArFzCO
