It was a feel-good story…
Katie McClure and Mark D’Amico raised HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of dollars for Johnny Bobbitt, a homeless veteran who gave the woman his last $20 dollars when she ran out of gas and was left stranded.
Fast forward to now: The veteran bought a camper and RV – but supposedly squandered much of his cash on drugs. He no longer has the vehicles, apparently having sold them off for drug money as well. The couple was holding on to his remaining funds, hoping he’d “clean his act up” before they turned the money over. They reportedly didn’t want him using his remaining balance on more drugs.
Fair enough – but a judge ruled they were to hand the cash over – as they were not the rightful owners and could not keep it from him – DESPITE the drug use.
They were supposed to hand over the rest of the cash this week.
It now appears that it has entirely vanished… and the couple’s home is being raided.
According to Fox News:
Footage taken from the scene showed a shiny, black BMW car being towed away from the Bordentown property owned by Katie McClure and Mark D’Amico. Other videos showed D’Amico hitting golf balls off the lawn surrounding the home and ABC6 reported bags of items being loaded into a law enforcement vehicle.

YIIIIKES.
So um… were they REALLY holding on to his money for “safekeeping?”
Or did they buy a Beemer with it?

…this certainly doesn’t look good.
Burlington County said a “search warrant was executed early this morning by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Florence Township Police Department at the residence of D’Amico and McClure in connection with a criminal investigation into the Johnny Bobbitt matter.”
“As of this time, there have been no charges filed,” Burlington County Prosecutor Scott A. Coffina said in a statement.
Superior Court Judge Paula Dow said the day before that McClure and D’Amico must show up in court next week for a deposition in a suit filed by Bobbitt over the whereabouts of the hundreds of thousands of dollars raised for him via GoFundMe, according to Fox 29.

What was once a feel-good story is now a freaking NIGHTMARE of greed and self-interest.
This is so sad.
