“Wakanda’ is a fictional place in the recent action movie “Black Panther.”
According to some Marvel fan site:
Wakanda, officially known as the Kingdom of Wakanda, is a small isolationist landlocked country located in Africa, surrounded by mountain ranges and a thick forest. It was ruled by King T’Challa, the heir of the mantle of Black Panther, and is the only known source of the metal vibranium. Despite appearing to be little more than an obscure, poor third world country with little to offer to the rest of the world, it is in fact the most advanced country in the world, whose level of technology is at least several decades ahead of anywhere else on Earth.
I had to check because I’m not reeeeeally a superhero movie person. (Does Deadpool count? I love that one.)
For reasons I don’t understand (Because this place is FICTIONAL, FFS) Wakanda has become some sort of “black power” symbol:
Real talk, I feel like one of the reasons the Wakanda Forever salute is so popular is because the black power fist is so politicized but this is a way we can revel in and celebrate our blackness in an obvious physical manner without people getting on our cases.

Again…
WAKANDA. IS. NOT. REAL.
Why wouldn’t you find something REAL to be proud of, instead of glorifying A MOVIE?
I don’t see anyone throwing Hogwarts mottos at each other. How is this different? I really don’t get it.
Anyway… Maxine either forgot Wakanda isn’t real, or just REALLY loves ‘Black Panther’ because the DARLING was throwing up some ‘Wakanda Forever’ arms at Aretha Franklin’s funeral today:
