This doesn’t surprise me. After all, this is New Jersey we’re talking about.
There’s a billboard in Union Township– a town not too far from NYC– that’s sparking quite a bit of controversy. Here it is:
The billboard was put up by “New York-based activist” Neil Harrison. He’s supposedly producing a documentary film, but I don’t really see how this billboard promotes it. “A New Film- Coming Soon” is written in red, which doesn’t really pop, but I guess that’s the point. He actually admitted that the billboard is less about his film and more about “spreading his message against the president.”
TDS is real.
Manafort was convicted. Cohen’s giving up everything he can, and we’re hoping that Trump is next,’ Harrison told News12 New Jersey.
‘Basically that’s what we are out here for. I’m an activist and that’s what I do. And we’re trying to drum up some real support here.’
Harrison says that he chose to put the billboard in New Jersey because New York City does not allow political messages on its billboards.
The billboard has been met with quite a bit of backlash, which surprised me a bit. I assumed this was a liberal-leaning area (being in close proximity to NYC and whatnot). However, township spokeswoman Natalie Pineiro said she’s received “dozens” of voicemails from residents, as well as “more than 100 comments on the town’s Facebook page.” The reaction was “overwhelmingly negative,” so they ended up putting up a brief statement on the matter.
“Residents, it’s come to our attention that a potentially offensive billboard has gone up on Morris Ave promoting a documentary about the President,” they said. “We wanted to take this time to remind you all that while we take these matters very seriously, billboards are privately owned and as such the Township of Union has no authority or or role in approving what goes up on each of them.”

I’m surprised there’s been a negative reaction at all. I mean, can you IMAGINE if someone put up a billboard like this with Obama’s face on it? They’d immediately be labeled as a disrespectful RACIST. CNN would have, like, 24 hour coverage and label it a scandal or something.
Whatevz. I don’t care. It’s a billboard.
TDS is real.
