Trump’s EPA Creates A New ‘Rule,’ Pelosi Says It Shows ‘Disdain For The Clean Air Our Children Breathe’

The Trump administration is delivering yet another blow to the previous administration.

Meet the new “Affordable Clean Energy” rule. It essentially “restricts emission reduction efforts coal companies and states are obligated to employ.”

The rule sets mere guidelines for states to develop and submit to the EPA plans to establish “patterns of performance” for existing coal plants. Power utilities would get a boost under the plan, which effectively replaces Obama’s Clean Power Plan. The EPA predicts the rule will affect more than 300 power plants.

Many utilities were forced to retire coal plants and switch to either natural gas or green power. But the proposed rule would likely change that dynamic — it focuses on improving plants’ heat efficiency and permit upgrades without triggering the kinds of pollution controls required under law.

Basically, states have more power to set their own rules. This is all part of the Trump administration’s promise to reduce what they consider unnecessary environmental regulations.

Nancy Pelosi has a very different take. She believes this shows Trump’s “disdain for the clean air our children breathe.” Here’s her full statement:

“The Trump Administration’s disdain for the clean air our children breathe and the clean water they drink knows no bounds. This rule is a brazen special interest handout that poisons families’ health today, and threatens their security and well-being for decades to come by accelerating the climate crisis.

“Time after time, the Trump Administration has sold out our children’s health to enrich special interests and big polluters pushing their toxic agenda. From pulling out of the Paris Agreement, spearheading reckless executive orders to undermine clean air and clean water, to giving polluters the green light to contaminate our communities, the Administration is devastating Americans’ health every chance it gets.

“House Democrats are committed to fighting for a clean energy future for our children that creates the good-paying jobs of the future, takes bold action to fight the devastation of the climate crisis and safeguards our environment for generations to come. Democrats are fighting to make Washington work for the people, and to crack down on the corruption and dark money from special interests polluting our clean air, clean water and public lands.”

Stop and think about how stupid that statement is. She accusing Trump of DISDAINING clean air. He HATES it. He doesn’t want your kids to breathe it!

Feinstein is also freaking out.
