Joe Biden ‘Under Doctor’s Orders’ To Sit This One Out

Joe Biden Falls Ill, Under Doctor’s Orders To Stay Home

That didn’t take long.

It was just last week that Twitter was defending its decision to keep Alex Jones’ account around. At the time, Jack said, “We didn’t suspend Alex Jones or Infowars yesterday. We know that’s hard for many but the reason is simple: he hasn’t violated our rules. We’ll enforce if he does. And we’ll continue to promote a healthy conversational environment by ensuring tweets aren’t artificially amplified.”

“If we succumb and simply react to outside pressure, rather than straightforward principles we enforce (and evolve) impartially regardless of political viewpoints, we become a service that’s constructed by our personal views that can swing in any direction.” he added. “That’s not us.”

It looks like the social media giant decided that Jones has, in fact, violated its rules. Jones has been suspended for seven days. He’ll be able to use the account to read other tweets, but he’ll have limited access. He can’t tweet or retweet.

Last week: @jack said Alex Jones could remain on Twitter because he hadn't violated the ToS.

Today: Twitter suspends Alex Jones/Infowars for 7 days.

So, what changed, @twitter? He didn't do anything he hasn't been doing for years.#WednesdayWisdom https://t.co/sUApc8RxDt

My question exactly.

“I can confirm that a tweet was reported to us which contained a link to a video on Periscope,” a Twitter spokesperson told CNBC. “Upon review we determined it violated our rules and required the account to delete the tweet and video.”

So now we have Facebook, Spotify, Apple, Vimeo and Twitter banning Jones.

Again, I can’t stand Jones, but this isn’t about that. It’s about tech companies now acting as the “hate speech” police. Who’s next?
