This is kinda awkward. Especially since lawmakers are ALLLLLL about stickin’ it to those nasty Russian spies these days.
According to this, Sen. Dianne Feinstein had a Chinese spy working for her for nearly 20 years.
CBS San Francisco has the details:
Now, all eyes are on Chinese intelligence in the Bay Area after the website Politico reported last week that a staffer for Senator Feinstein turned out to be a Chinese spy who reported back to the government officials about local politics.
On Wednesday, the San Francisco Chronicle uncovered additional details in a column written by reporters Phil Matier and Andy Ross.
The column revealed that the Chinese spy was Feinstein’s driver who also served as a gofer in her Bay Area office and was a liaison to the Asian-American community.
He even attended Chinese consulate functions for the senator.
Um…holy crap?
Feinstein was “reportedly mortified” when she found out, but investigators say the spy didn’t really get his hands on anything of substance. He was her driver, so she could’ve slipped something out here or there, but you never know. You know how it is, chillin’ in the car and chatting it up with whoever’s with you. Or hey– maybe she took important phone calls during the rides. It’s possible.
The way they say she ultimately handled it kinda made me scratch my head. She “forced him to retire.” I don’t know, but I was expecting something a little more…forceful.
“Think about Diane Feinstein and what she had access to,” former FBI agent and KPIX 5 security analyst Jeff Harp said, according to CBS. “One, she had access to the Chinese community here in San Francisco; great amount of political influence. Two, correct me if I’m wrong, Dianne Feinstein still has very close ties to the intelligence committees there in Washington, D.C.”

Right? That’s what I said!
"Feinstein’s office would not comment on the story,…but they added that none of their California offices staffers had ever had security clearance." Feinstein was Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee during the time her office was infiltrated by a Chinese spy.

But there you have it. Feinstein unknowingly had a Chinese spy work for her for YEARS, and she “forced” him to retire. Now you know.
