Of course this happened in Portland. Of COURSE.
Remember how we told you about how losers in Portland decided to “Occupy ICE” for weeks on end? They basically set up a nasty camp that smelled like urine and shouted offensive, sexist and racist things at ICE agents. And then they built a wall (oh, the irony) to keep unwanted people, like law enforcement, out.
They were ultimately forced to leave their disgusting camp, and professional cleaners had to pick up the mess. A “Rapid Response Bio-Clean” team was actually required.
After 6 weeks, the “abolish/occupy ICE” Portland camp is no more. Starting early this morning, dozens of cleaners quickly emptied most of the fortress. The strong smell of dried urine permeates the air. There is junk all around the former camp. pic.twitter.com/xoRctNif4g

You can catch up here and here.
WELL. As it turns out, at certain points during that long protest, ICE employees called the police, because the protests outside of their offices were getting too violent.
Apparently, Portland police officers didn’t always respond.
The National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, a union representing ICE employees, wrote a cease-and-desist letter to Mayor Ted Wheeler, asking him to ensure the police enforce the law equally and protect innocent people.
“Your current policy forbidding Portland law enforcement agencies from assisting employees of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency who request law enforcement assistance while at or away from work is a violation of the United States Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause,” the letter says.
“Every person in law enforcement knows there are few things as dangerous or as unpredictable than an angry mob,”said Chris Crane, president of the national union, WWeek reported Monday. “No one could have responded quickly enough to protect our employees who were trapped inside this building. All of this because the Mayor of Portland has a beef with the president of the United States.”
Keep in mind that the protests got so out of hand that the government had to temporarily shut down the Portland ICE offices altogether.
Here’s the full letter:
You catch that part?
“We ask that you end your policy of not responding to calls for police services from ICE employees immediately…We would like to avoid federal litigation, but we are prepared to protect our membership and their families.”
Portland…you should really get a new mayor. This is not a good look…
