President Trump Tweets About The Cohen-Trump Tapes

Last night, CNN aired the audio of a discussion between Trump and Cohen. The discussion centered around obtaining the rights to a story about a playboy model who claimed to have an affair with Trump. The conversation took place two months before the presidential election– September 2016.

“I need to open up a company for the transfer of all of that info regarding our friend David,” Cohen says in the recording. They believe he’s referring to David Pecker.

“What financing?” Trump asks.

“Well, I’ll have to pay him something,” Cohen said.

The audio gets a little muffled, but the words “pay with cash” are heard. However, Trump’s team says Trump said “Don’t pay with cash … check.” And Cohen’s all, “No, no, no, no, no. I got it.”

The consensus seems to be that Trump’s team is telling the truth. At least, according to the Daily Wire.

After listening to the audio clip more than a dozen times, it appears as though the transcript provided by Trump’s legal team is the most accurate and it does appear that Trump said, “Don’t pay with cash … check.”

I listened to it too. It absolutely sounds like he says DON’T pay with cash…check.

What say you?

I was fully expecting a full blown morning tweetstorm on this, but instead, Trump has issued a more measured unofficial response.

What kind of a lawyer would tape a client? So sad! Is this a first, never heard of it before? Why was the tape so abruptly terminated (cut) while I was presumably saying positive things? I hear there are other clients and many reporters that are taped – can this be so? Too bad!

Perhaps his team is urging him to refrain from going off. I don’t know.
