Pop Star “Awake” After Reported Heroin Overdose

As I mentioned earlier, singer Demi Lovato reportedly suffered from a heroin overdose.
Sources are now saying that she’s awake and responsive… and that it wasn’t heroin.

According to Fox News:

On the eve of a hotly anticipated string of tour dates, pop music superstar Demi Lovato has reportedly been hospitalized for an apparent overdose after being revived at her home with the opioid treatment drug Narcan.

According to multiple reports, law enforcement officials say the 25-year-old onetime Disney pop princess was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles after she suffered from what appeared to be an overdose.

TMZ initially reported that Lovato was taken to the hospital for what appeared to be an OD of heroin. However, the outlet is now reporting that wasn’t the case. A source also confirmed to Fox News that “it’s not heroin.

So it’s another narcotic? People don’t just get shot up with Narcan willy-nilly.

She definitely overdosed on SOMETHING.

In a statement to Fox News, Lovato’s rep said: “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”

A separate source close to Lovato told Fox News that “Demi is recovering and is in stable condition.”

Good.

There’s a lot to unpack here.

All I’ve got to say is that addiction is a horrific thing… and no one deserves to die from it.

Per TMZ, Lovato was transported on Tuesday just before 12 p.m. after being treated at her Hollywood Hills home with Narcan, an emergency medication that is often used to revive people in instances of narcotic overdoses.

According to TMZ, an overdose occurred at Lovato’s home, and when paramedics arrived she was unconscious.

An LAPD spokesperson told Fox News that both the Los Angeles Police and Fire Department responded to a “medical emergency call” on the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood at 11:40 a.m.

An LAFD official told Fox News that “medical responders transported a 25-year-old female patient to a local hospital” from the same address, but that “no condition of the patient has been made available.”

Lovato was preparing for a monthslong tour that was supposed to start Thursday night in Atlantic City, N.J., and take her to venues as far flung as Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Brazil.

I’m going to go ahead and say that’s canceled.

Earlier in the day, she tweeted about a promotion for her appearance on the pre-taped Fox show “Beat Shazam” Tuesday night.

The tweet was probably prescheduled for her.

And that WAS canceled.

Following the news, FOX announced that the episode featuring Lovato would be replaced. “Tonight’s previously scheduled episode of ‘Beat Shazam’ featured a guest appearance by Demi Lovato,” the statement read.

“In light of recent reports, we have decided to replace the episode of ‘Beat Shazam’ with another all-new episode. Our thoughts go out to Demi and her family.”

As I also mentioned, Demi has been VERY public about her struggles with addiction.

Last month, Lovato, who has grappled with substance abuse in the past, revealed in a new emotional single that she had relapsed months after celebrating six years of sobriety.
