July 22, 2018The Justice Department just released the Carter Page (who was a foreign policy adviser for the Trump campaign) surveillance documents.
Yep. The FISA application has been made public. Remember the drama with the Nunes memo? #ReleaseTheMemo ring a bell? If you recall, Nunes basically said that the FBI relied too heavily on the anti-Trump Steele dossier to get the FISA warrant. Here’s what we learned from that memo.
- Warrants on Carter Page wouldn’t have been possible without the phony dossier
- The FBI and DOJ relied on media reporting to lend credibility to the dossier, meaning there was a lot of “circular reporting” in this case
- Christopher Steele said he was “desperate that Donald Trump not get elected and was passionate about him not being president”
- DOJ and FBI officials KNEW about the shady dossier but excluded it from the FISA applications
- FBI and DOJ officials knew the truth behind the phony dossier and used it anyway
And then remember how Democrats created their OWN memo to combat the Nunes memo?

According to the newly released documents, the FBI “believes Page has been the subject of targeted recruitment by the Russian government … to undermine and influence the outcome of the 2016 U.S. presidential election in violation of U.S. criminal law.”
Page continues to deny the allegations.
“I’m having trouble finding any small bit of this document that rises above complete ignorance and/or insanity,” Page told The Hill on Saturday following the release of the documents.

Others say the application proves Nunes’ memo right.
Tom Fitton, the president of Judicial Watch, said his first read of the documents released by the DOJ on Saturday seemed to “confirm the FBI and DoJ misled the courts in withholding info about Clinton-DNC being behind the info used to get the FISA warrant.”
“Given this corruption, President Trump should intervene and declassify the heavily redacted material,” he continued in a statement.
Of course, President Trump has plenty to say about this.
