Remember The 10-Year-Old Girl With Down Syndrome Who Was Separated From Her Mother? ICE Actually Rescued Her From Child Smugglers.

So you know how Corey Lewandowski had a douchey reaction after being told that a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome was separated from her mother? He was all, “womp womp.”

There’s more to the story about the little girl.

Her separation had nothing to do with the “zero-tolerance” policy. ICE actually rescued her from a child smuggling attempt.

“We had separated this child with Down Syndrome from her mother as a result of a smuggling attempt on June 3,” DHS spokeswoman Katie Waldman revealed in an interview on Breitbart News Daily.

Waldman said that the girl’s mother was not a product of the DHS zero-tolerance enforcement at the border and was not being prosecuted. She also said that three of the children, who were U.S. citizens, were released to an aunt.

CNN reported on the case, citing Mexico’s Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray’s position on the story.

“The mother was not prosecuted, but is instead being held as a material witness to support the prosecution of the smuggler which participated the separation of the two other children, both Mexican citizens,” Waldman said.

Oh. Well, that’s inconvenient.

This doesn’t make me feel any differently about Lewandowski’s initial reaction, because he didn’t have all the information at the time either. I still think he sucks. But does he suck harder than MSM, which conveniently left these little details out?
