Google Knows When You’ll Die

Google knows everything about you.

Yes, folks. Big Brother isn’t in “the future” anymore. Big Brother is NOW.

But… does this new AI go too far?

Apparently, Google has created a new artificial intelligence computer that can predict when hospital patients will die…

So far, it’s 95% accurate.  I’m 95% creeped out. (5% amazed that people have been able to come up with these sorts of things.)

According to Fox Business Insider:

Do you want to know when you will die? Google is training its new artificial intelligence computer to predict whether hospital patients will die 24-hours after admission.

The accuracy of the initial trials is at 95%.

But how could it know that?

The system uses basic data such as a patient’s age, ethnicity and gender. A new algorithm then uses information like patient’s vitals, medical history and even PDF’s, charts, and hand-written notes from doctors to make its predictions.

The technology can also predict the number of days a patient will be in the hospital or the chances of being readmitted.

Wow.

I mean… it’s kind of amazing, isn’t it?

Of course, like all technology that uses and analyses highlight private information, I think it can be both immensely useful… and immensely harmful if this sort of information is available to the wrong people for the wrong reasons.
