Oh NYC, you so crazy.
And by crazy, I mean that you would have to pay me to live anywhere near that city. I get the appeal with the food and the night life and “omg the cuuullllllturrrrre, Daaaaisy!!” I’ve lived in downtown Boston, Chicago and Atlanta, though, and I didn’t get bedbugs and never felt claustrophobic and not once did I catch a whiff of fresh urine when I lived happily in those awesometacular cities. So feel free to have loyalty to NYC all you want – I’ve personally given it several chances, and hashtag nope. But listen – you do you, Deblasio and friends. And congrats on all that you continue to do to keep it on the top of my places-I-don’t-need-to-go-back-to list.
Never mind science, New York is getting ready to join the also-disconnected-from-reality states like California, Oregon, and Washington, and they’re proposing to offer a “non-binary gender option, designated as “X,” to appear on NYC birth certificates.”
Because OMG it’s like, so progressive to ignore science, y’all. This is what the Party of Superior Intellect keeps telling little ol’ hilljack me, anyway:
“Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Corey Johnson said the new category of ‘X’ would be available through the proposal, which is expected to be introduced by Johnson on Thursday with public hearings to be held later this month,” reports The Associated Press.
So it’s aimed at adults, but parents can already mark their kid as “undetermined,” so why not “X?” What’s the big deal? And what a way to come into the world, huh? When you are CLEARLY a boy or a girl, but your progressive Superior Intellect I-know-what’s-best parents are all, “hey…let’s screw this kid up much as humanly possible,” and the government says, “Awesome! We’re here to help with that!” And they make you an “X” instead of what you freaking ARE.
Here’s a live stream a few hours ago of City Council Speaker Corey Johnson being all giddy about it, if you’re interested:
Anywho, if you didn’t get this from the video:
Parents already have the option to mark their newborn child’s sex as “undetermined,” but the new gender “X” proposal is aimed at “non-binary” adults who wish to change their birth certificates.
Which I’m sure will pan out nicely when your Actual Boy or Girl gets in elementary school, parents. Can’t wait to see the therapy bill for that one.
The new proposal would not require gender reassignment surgery nor an affidavit or affirmation from a medical or mental health professional saying the New Yorker’s “gender identity is more accurately reflected by changing the gender designation,” as past legislation has, noted the AP. This requirement would be removed, and the only thing a person would have to do is submit their own affidavit confirming their so-called “gender identity.”
DeBlasio was super stoked about this for the adult transgenders, though, of course:
“This proposal will allow transgender and gender non-conforming New Yorkers to live with the dignity and respect they deserve, and make our City fairer.”
Because NYC just wan’t FAIR enough, y’all. They’re well on their way! YAY! And listen – if you’re looking for bedbugs, claustrophobia, rude people, and a pungent urine smell? They also have you covered.
