John Goodman Breaks His Silence On Roseanne Cancelation

As you all know (unless you’re living under a rock…that I’m VERY jealous of) ‘Roseanne’ was canceled.

She’s done plenty of talking.

She’s even said her fans have inspired her to “keep fighting back.”

But what about her co-stars?

Sarah Gilbert was pretty quick to throw Roseanne under the bus:

Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.

John Goodman is just now speaking out. His response is VERY different:

According to Daily Mail:

John Goodman has spoken out about the cancellation of Roseanne and seemed unconcerned that he wouldn’t be getting an Emmy for his performance in the hit show.

In footage shown on Entertainment Tonight, Goodman was briefly interviewed at an auto repair shop in New Orleans where he was collecting his car.

The 65-year-old was reluctant to address the controversy saying he would ‘rather say nothing than to cause more trouble’ and when pressed about Roseanne’s Twitter comments said: ‘I don’t know anything about it. I don’t read it.’

Pretty smart, I guess.

I feel like this whole thing is a MESS. I also don’t stand by Roseanne’s joke. So I get where he’s coming from. There’s no need to throw her under the bus to get some virtue points…

He just wants this whole mess to go away. So do I.

ABC has suspended its Emmys For Your Consideration campaign, having previously announced that it would be showcased with a screening and panel featuring cast members.

Asked about his prospects for an Emmy for the recently revived ‘Roseanne’, he replied: ‘I wasn’t gonna get an Emmy anyway. I’ve been up there [11] times already, and if I didn’t get one I’m not gonna get one.’

He doesn’t seem all that fazed.

John seems like an alright guy.

Goodman has been nominated for 11 Emmys between 1988 and 2010, including six for his role on Roseanne.

But he has only picked up one, in 2007 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role on the short-lived series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

So… yeah. The Emmys have made it pretty clear Roseanne isn’t at the top of their radar.

His comments come as Roseanne Barr attacks ABC after the network canceled her show, claiming the network has ‘thrown out’ her co-stars along with her in the wake of her racist Twitter tirade.

Roseanne has adamantly stood by her co-stars.

In a tweet, she weighed in on behalf of Laurie Metcalf and Goodman, who play Roseanne’s sister Jackie and husband Dan respectively.

There HAS, however, been talk of a spin-off show.

Amid the ongoing controversy and the show’s cancellation, there have been rumors Goodman’s character could form the basis for a spin-off.

He brushed off the suggestion, however, saying: ‘Then you’ve heard more than I have.’

Multiple sources told DailyMail.com that a possible spin-off of the show is not out of the question, potentially featuring stars Metcalf, Goodman and Sara Gilbert, who plays Roseanne’s daughter Darlene.

So…are they killing Roseanne off of her own show?

Kinda sounds like it.

One of the sources said Gilbert is dealing with the cast and crew after the fallout from creator Roseanne’s racist tweet left over 200 people without a job, and will be speaking with writers and producers later this week in a meeting that had already been planned prior to Tuesday.

The second source said that Goodman and Metcalf would be open to filming with one another and Gilbert, provided that the writers and producers could come up with the right idea.

Yeah. They’re totally killing Roseanne.
