I was off today, so Daisy and Producer Rob hosted the show this morning, and as I was running errands, I caught one segment that just BLEW MY MIND.
Quick background. Indiana Congressman Todd Rokita is not what we would call a fan of our show. 🙂 We wrote about him in our book, Right for a Reason, because of a dust-up he had with CNN’s Carol Costello, and at the time of the dust-up, we invited him to defend himself on our show. Despite the fact that he pretty much jumps at any opportunity to appear on our station, he declined to appear on our show, and so since then, we’ve just sort of not been fans of each other from afar.
Now? He’s running for Senate, and he’s got himself some tough primary competition from Congressman Luke Messer, and a self-proclaimed outsider named Mike Braun. The senate campaign thus far has been contentious to say the LEAST. Our primary is next week, and Rokita isn’t looking so hot in the latest polls. That’s due, in part, to the fact that he seems like such an elitist. There is an arrogance about him that is impossible for him to hide. And hilariously, his tagline for his campaign is “Defeat the Elite.”
Todd please.
You wanna see what elite looks like? Let’s bring you back to this week.
One of our favorite folks at the station, Guy Relford, was filling during the 11-1 timeslot for a couple days this week, and he had all three senate candidates on with him yesterday. Producer Brian Baker, also one of our favorite folks at the station, jumped in to ask a question while Rokita was on with Guy, and Daisy and Producer Rob talked about what happened. Take a listen, and then you tell me if that sounds like someone who wants to “defeat the elite.”
CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE THE ARROGANCE.
Anyway, I listened to that segment this morning and was just absolutely disgusted. Rokita didn’t have my vote anyway, but he probably lost a lot more after that condescending display.
