According to this, little Alfie Evans has died, after being taken off life support against the wishes of his parents, in Liverpool, England.
His father, making the announcement, said, “Our baby boy grew his wings tonight at 2:30 a.m. We are heartbroken.”
As you know, Alfie’s case drew international attention because of how much it TOTALLY SUCKS that the UK wouldn’t let his parents take him to Italy for further evaluation and treatment. The UK hospital insisted they knew best, and that treating him further would be unkind and inhumane. You know, because of how much MORE humane it is to withdraw oxygen, food and water from a baby in order to force him to die against the wishes of people trying to save him. Yeah, UK, great logic there.
But listen, y’all, after Alfie died, “the hospital released a statement offering its “heartfelt sympathy and condolences” to the family.”
Well, wasn’t that big of them?
Anyway, RIP, little Alfie. And let’s all take a moment to rejoice that we don’t live in the UK, where they’re becoming less free by the minute.
