Amy Schumer’s message is pretty predictable because she repeats herself over and over again.
Acting like a wh*rish trainwreck means being an empowered female. Get publicly naked. Make vagina jokes. THAT is feminism!
So when the trailer for her new movie came out… I had to roll my eyes. More of the same “OMG LOOK AT ME! THIS IS EMPOWERED! I KNOW IT COMES OFF AS SAD, DESPERATE, AND SHALLOW, BUT THAT’S ONLY BECAUSE I’M A FEMINIST AND YOU’RE A HATER” garbage.
Don’t believe me? See for yourself!
Ugh.
Apparently, self-esteem means acting like an entitled sl*t. EMPOWERIIIIING!
Schumer later said she SOOOO wishes her role would have been played by a “woman of color.” Because things are a lot harder for them and they have lower self-esteem or something. I don’t know what the idiot was getting at. Also she could have just not taken the role…
AAAANYWAY. Everyone hates it. F’real. It’s a steaming pile of garbage.
According to the Daily Caller:
The reviews for Amy Schumer’s new movie “I Feel Pretty” are in, and they’re pretty ugly.
HAHA. Good one.
Movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes is currently showing a 33 percent “rotten” rating. IMDb gave the movie a 3.7/10.
YIIIIKES.
Critics tore into the movie for its message of self-love and body acceptance that some feel is hollow and contrived. The Atlantic’s Christopher Orr said, “This movie, premised on the idea that self-esteem trumps physical beauty, doesn’t even believe in the product it’s selling.”
Right. Because this chick got scalped by a stationary bike, decided she looked like a supermodel, and then started entering wet t-shirt contests.
Someone explain to me where the empowering lesson is in that?
Leah Pickett from the Chicago Reader called the movie “deeply unfunny,” and gave it one star.
“Deeply Unfunny” describes Amy Schumer PERRRRRFECTLY.
The New York Times was nicer, but still critical, saying the movie could have gone more than “skin deep.”
Well, it’s an Amy Schumer movie. So no, it couldn’t have.
Schumer appeared on ABC’s The View Monday to promote her film, and bizarrely said that she would have liked for her role — which she cast herself in — to have been played by a “woman of color” instead.
“I recognize that I am a caucasian, like — I would love if this movie were starring a woman of color who’s had it way harder than me, and I think, I hope we get there. This is hopefully just a step in the right direction,” she said.
My eyes could not roll any harder.
Whatever. Surely there will be a bunch of college “feminists” who eat this crap up.
