It’s always really chilling when these things happen in areas you’re familiar with.
For those who don’t know, National Harbor, Maryland is the area CPAC takes place. The actual convention is at the Gaylord, but the area is full of shops and restaurants. I’ve been there quit a few times. There’s this place called Thai Pavilion– it has this really unique door (I like fancy doors OK?), and they serve the best Pad thai EVER. OK, OK. I’m going into vacation dreamland.
Restaurants. They have a lot of delicious restaurants. There’s *one* area restaurant I haven’t tried, but I’ve walked by it a dozen times: Cadillac Ranch.
There was a shooting there early this morning.
Two people are in the hospital and one person was arrested after an argument led to a shooting at a restaurant at the National Harbor, according to authorities.
Prince George’s County Police say this happened early Thursday at the Cadillac Ranch at 186 Fleet Street. Officers say a man was being taken out of the restaurant after an argument witnesses say was likely over a bar tab. The man then fired a handgun twice, hitting two people in the upper body before fleeing, police say.
The victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK. The man was arrested.

As much as I love that area, that’s part of the reason I’m always hesitant to go: The gun laws suck. I can’t bring mine. There’s no right to carry reciprocity. I hate that feeling.
I’m just glad no one was seriously wounded. It’s a lovely area, and I hate to hear about ANY kind of violence in such a happy, family-friendly place.
