The Great Mills High School shooter– who was stopped by the brave armed school resource officer Blaine Gaskill– has been identified as 17-year-old Austin Wyatt Rollins. I know there’s a lot of controversy on whether or not members of the media should spend a lot of time on those who commit these crimes– naming them and providing pictures– but we’ve made the decision to provide the gunman’s picture, because it speaks volumes about the decline of our culture. This teen doesn’t “look” like someone capable of a school shooting. He looks like a little boy.
I know it sounds weird, but usually these shooters have a “look.” You can almost see the crazy. But this teen? Judging from that picture, I’d have no idea. He looks like a kid. Where did something go wrong? Did his family not know he was hoarding so much hate in his heart? Why wasn’t it addressed? Were they not aware?
That brings me to this. It’s absolutely chilling.
After reports broke about a shooting, one of Rollins’ relatives tweeted this out. It has since been deleted for obvious reasons.
The individual had no idea Austin was the shooter. Chilling.
There were two victims of Rollins’ evil actions. One victim is a 14-year-old boy, who is said to be in stable condition. The other– 16-year-old Jaelynn Willey– is fighting for her life.
She’s precious. People set up a fundraising page to help her family with medical bills.
Please help support the Willey family through this trying time. Their oldest daughter was a victim of the school shooting at Great Mills High School. She is currently in critical condition. Any donation no matter how small will be appreciated immensely as no one is ever prepared for a medical emergency like this!
You can check that out here. We’re praying for a COMPLETE recovery.
It’s a heartbreaking and tragic situation. This poor girl is fighting for her life. But if that school resource officer didn’t step in, it could’ve been so much worse.
