Republican Lawmaker Suggests ‘Lady Teachers’ Shouldn’t Be Armed Because It’s Not Feminine Or Something

Let me make this crystal clear, because the left looooves mischaracterizing our beliefs. I believe we should have armed resource officers at every school, and I ALSO believe that that certain, qualified, WILLING teachers should be allowed to carry as well. There should be a training program of some sort. If they’re willing, go through the training program OR have a military or law enforcement background, I’m all for it.

Liberals would like you to believe that we want to FORCE unwilling teachers– teachers who know nothing about guns– to carry. They imagine these teachers with like, two visible holsters casually sticking their gun on a desk, easily visible and easily accessible.

NO. That is NOT what we want. But that’s the idiotic mischaracterization they tout.

Typically, we only have to worry about liberals making stupid arguments. Alas, Republican Alabama state lawmaker Harry Shiver is making an exception.

Shiver was voicing opposition to a proposed bill in Alabama that would designate specially trained teachers and administrators on school grounds, requiring annual training of 40 hours that would include active-shooter drills and firearm safety, AL.com reported.

He doesn’t really think qualified female teachers worry about being armed, because it violates their “feminine sensibilities” or something.

I’m not saying all (women), but in most schools, women are (the majority) of the teachers,” he said. “Some of them just don’t want to (be trained to possess firearms). If they want to, then that’s good. But most of them don’t want to learn how to shoot like that and carry a gun.”

We’ve acknowledged that already. What’s your REAL point here dude?

‘We don’t need to have a lady teacher in a school that’s got a firearm,’ he told NBC affiliate WSFA. ‘I taught for 32 years, and it’s mostly ladies that’s teaching and they got more things to worry about than a gun.’

I’m not one to pull the female card, but what is he getting at? Is he suggesting female teachers are incapable of being responsible adults who can respond to a crisis situation properly? What else do we have to worry about? Safety is something BOTH genders think about. I can put lipstick on AND properly load a gun, Harry.

Lemme tell ya– if I were a teacher, I would sign up and take a class and do whatever it takes to become “qualified” enough to carry in school. I would want to be an “armed lady teacher.”

I just think Harry presents the dumbest argument ever. I don’t understand his reasoning. “Lady teachers” shouldn’t have to worry about carrying because they’re ladies? Huh???

If passed, only Alabama law enforcement and school officials would know which teachers are armed, or even if the school has armed teachers on campus.

That’s right. Students wouldn’t know.

The bill would leave the decision of arming teachers up to the school district, and armed teachers would be required to go through a 40-hour training course each year.

Supporters of the bill claim it can be a great last line of defense, while opponents say the state should invest in more resource officers instead.

I’m all for a mix of both. ARMED LADY TEACHERS UNITE.
