Facebook Threatened A SATIRE Site After Liberal Blowhard SNOPES Rated It “False”

As we’ve mentioned a number of times, we’ve been having a HECK of a time with Facebook lately.

We get messages DAILY from people who NEVER see our posts anymore, who have mysteriously “unliked” our page,  or who have been strangely prompted to “mute” us for one reason or another.

It sucks, guys. It really, really sucks. Our traffic is down, and it BLOWS knowing how much power Facebook has over EVERYONE.

It’s terrifying…

And it’s not only us. It’s any website that doesn’t subscribe to their specific type of liberal mindset.

Facebook recently threatened a SATIRE SITE after freaking LIBERAL BLOWHARDS AT SNOPES decided their story was “false.”

SNOPES, you guys.

According to this:

Christian satire site The Babylon Bee received a terse warning from Facebook this week after the “independent fact-checkers” at Snopes reported that one of the site’s humor articles was “false.”

Adam Ford, who runs The Babylon Bee, was warned by Facebook that a recent satire article about CNN “contains information disputed by (Snopes.com) an independent fact checker.” Repeat offenders, Ford was told, “will see their distribution reduced and their ability to monetize and advertized [sic] removed.”

You got that right. Facebook has the ability to quash both the VOICES and LIVELIHOOD of people running websites they don’t agree with.

The story in question pokes fun at CNN with the headline: “CNN Purchases Industrial-Sized Washing Machine To Spin News Before Publication.” Anyone with even a sliver of a funny bone tucked away behind their appendix would know that it wasn’t a serious news piece, but, alas, the humorless dolts at Snopes had to spell out the obvious.

“Although it should have been obvious that the Babylon Bee piece was just a spoof of the ongoing political brouhaha over alleged news media ‘bias’ and ‘fake news,'” Snopes explained, “some readers missed that aspect of the article and interpreted it literally.”

Because some readers are droolstains. That’s not The Babylon Bee’s problem.

Snopes conceded that “the site’s footer gives away the Babylon Bee’s nature by describing it as ‘Your Trusted Source For Christian News Satire,'” and explained that the site “has been responsible for a number of other (usually religious-themed) spoofs that have been mistaken for real news articles.”

Ok… so is Facebook going to start threatening the Onion? Because people fall for that ALL THE TIME.

Babylon Bee’s Adam Ford told PJM that this isn’t the first time Babylon Bee has been “fact-checked” by Snopes.”But this is the first time Facebook has used that to threaten us with reduced reach and demonetization,” Ford said. “Also it seems that anyone who clicked on the article got a notice that it was ‘disputed.'”

I mean… this is getting SO out of hand.

This will soon be the reality for ALL conservative sites….

We’ve already personally felt the effects of it.

Facebook HAS admitted this was a mistake…

Facebook reached out to PJM with an official statement, claiming the whole thing was a “mistake.”

“There’s a difference between false news and satire,” Lauren Svensson from Facebook Communications wrote in an email to PJM. “This was a mistake and should not have been rated false in our system. It’s since been corrected and won’t count against the domain in any way.”

But again… this means that they get to decide what sites are “false news” … and penalize them.

And of course they only apologized because of the MAJOR backlash from this particular instance.

We aren’t news. We’ve never said we were. We’ve ALWAYS been an OPINION site…

But of course Facebook doesn’t care about that.

So what can you do?

STOP RELYING ON FACEBOOK TO GET CONSERVATIVE CONTENT.

We’ve said it a million times… but we MUST say it again… because believe me, Facebook is really kicking us in the teeth right now.
