Marine Le Pen Is Facing Prison Time… THIS Is Exactly Why Our First Amendment MUST Be Protected!

The left seldom understands why we make such a “big deal” about the First Amendment.

They forcibly silence Conservative college speakers for “hate speech” ….”hate speech” of course being any political viewpoint they don’t agree with.

I’ve heard many on the left argue that European countries do not afford their citizens the same Free Speech protections than we do… and Europe is “soooooo much better than we are.” So why do we need them?! IT’S JUST HATE SPEECH ANYWAY!

Heh. Really?

Because THIS is what not having First Amendment protections looks like.

According to Daily Wire:

On Thursday, French prosecutors filed preliminary charges against far-right populist Marine Le Pen for tweeting images of violence committed by members of the Islamic State.

Le Pen, who lost a presidential bid last year, has been charged with “distribution of violent images” and, if convicted, could face up to three years behind bars and hefty fines equating to $90,000.

In December 2015, the French nationalist tweeted images of ISIS executions, including the beheading of American reporter James Foley. The post came on the heels of the gruesome Bataclan attack by the Islamic extremists in Paris, France, where 89 innocents were reportedly tortured and brutally murdered.

The post was a commentary on France’s inaction when it comes to Islamic extremism.

What Le Pen shared wasn’t pretty… but it was the TRUTH.

Sharing the TRUTH might land her in prison.

Just let that sink in.

Last year, the French parliament lifted Le Pen’s immunity from such prosecution, notes The Associated Press. The far-right leader’s lawyer, Rodolphe Bosselut, confirmed the charges.

The charges are shocking, especially to an American populace protected by the First Amendment. Le Pen could possibly spend three years behind bars for posting photos of real events online, exposing what she felt was government inadequacy.

Le Pen is committed to fighting radical Islamic terrorism in her nation.

France is apparently more concerned with hurting people’s feelings than allowing citizens to speak and disseminate the truth about REAL atrocities being committed by radical Islamic terrorists.

This is scary stuff.

…and unless Americans continue to stand up to the censoring of Conservative voices in our own country… this is what’s next for us.
