It’s times like these that I remember we have people like Katie Couric and Andrea Mitchell representing America across the globe. It pains me to say that, because they don’t truly represent the American people. I know this. You know this. But does the world know this?
Eh. I don’t know.
Katie Couric is covering the Olympic Games, and she’s already managed to embarrass us. During the Opening Ceremony, she talked about how the Dutch are really good at speed skating because “skating is an important mode of transportation in Amsterdam.” Yeahβ the Dutch just skate all around the canals all day every day. Put on yer skatey skates and jump on the frozen canalβ time to go grocery shopping! And that obviously means they swim everywhere in the summer, right?
You just can't make this up.
NBC opening ceremony coverage. Katie Couric talks about why The Netherlands is so good at speed skating as The Netherlands enters the stadium.
And this folks is why Americans are less bright about the rest of the world as they spread fake news! pic.twitter.com/7YC5deTl2w

That’s not how it works. That’s not how ANY of this works.
You just can't make this up.

Ugh. I hate that MSM represents us.
Memo to Katie Couric: The canals in Amsterdam freeze on average ONCE every 10-15 years. So yeah, skating is a major form of transportation. You can do better. I know you can. @katiecouric

In summer us Dutch swim to work and grocery store via the canals. You'll hear that next summer Olympics.

Another hot Netherlands fact: Our version of Uber is a very strong speed skater pushing a chair you can sit on. I'll admit, no phone charging options but the fresh air is nice. https://t.co/jNLthzlJd7

According to @katiecouric, the Dutch skate all over Amsterdam. Thatβs how they transport Marijuana and schrooms and also how they travel across the Atlantic Ocean. https://t.co/pINMtrfxcC

Yeah, I heard Katie Couric say that and thought, do the canals actually freeze over that often? N then I thought – she must have well paid staff checking these facts so maybe they do. But of course google is free n could have told her she was wrong!
