Remember that time last February when Alpha Chi Omega (which happens to be my sorority, mind you), decided to say, “Hey everyone…let’s allow guys who identify as chicks into our sorority, because diversity and inclusiveness and social justice and whatnot.”
I’m paraphrasing, of course. But yeah. I had stuff to say about that. In a nutshell, I said it was a dumb idea based on political correctness (which I happen to think is a cultural cancer), and not at all based on sound reasoning or logic. I’m quite certain the President of my sorority lacks a backbone, which makes me question the entire organization, frankly.
Like I said in my post:
One of my national sisters said it best on Facebook:
“XX = female. XY = male.
Basic biology. DNA cannot be changed.”
Alpha Chi’s tagline is “Real. Strong. Women.” What a shame that the national organization feels as though women aren’t enough to celebrate without having to kowtow to squeaky wheels and social justice warriors and political correctness. What a shame that there are sheep within the organization who also feel this way.
In that same post, I mentioned that Yale was being forced to invite women to frat parties during Rush.
As I mentioned almost a year ago:
Yale’s Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity was forced to have women at their rush parties, because a group called Engender decided that “single-sex organizations fostered unhealthy concepts of otherness.”
“Unhealthy concepts of otherness?” Let me translate that for you in social justice terms: “Hi, we’re Engender, and we don’t want anyone else having fun, so we’re going to sh*t all over your parade and attempt to shut you down.”
Exactly.
Fast forward to today and this story. Engender now wants females allowed IN the fraternities. Because of course they do.
Their reasoning? They’re saying that “there’s a lot of discrimination, harassment, and sexual assault,” and women in fraternities could prevent all that. Plus, it could “help (women) with networking.”
Women just BEING in fraternity houses could help with all that sexual assault stuff, y’all. As if women have never been in fraternity houses before, ever. And the whole, “…it could help with networking!” reason was my favorite. As if allowing chicks into fraternities will somehow land college women MORE JOBS WHEN THEY GET OUT OF COLLEGE OMG. This notion gives me an Actual Migraine.
The reasons they give out loud, in my humble opinion, are absolute bullsh*t. Engender wants women in fraternities, because they don’t like fraternities, and they apparently have a lot of time on their hands.
Bless their hearts.
And listen – if my sorority was spineless enough to let guys-who-identify-as-chicks in, why not let chicks into frats? I mean, this was just a matter of time. I’m certain by the time my 7-year old goes to college, Greek life on campuses will be a blip on the radar because of all this nonsense.
Make no mistake here – SJWs don’t want Greek organizations to exist – period. And politically-correct, lobotomized lemming presidents and faculty will let them have their way eventually. It’s for the better of society in their minds, dontchaknow. Heaven forbid there be exclusive clubs on a college campus in this day and age (isn’t exclusivity some sort of BULLYING now?). Heaven forbid any of these snowflake kids get their feeeeeelings hurt by not being accepted into a club (these are the children who ALL got participation trophies, you see). And heaven forbid they allow other people to have fun on campus besides them (that’s just mean and probably some sort of “ist”). Heaven forbid women not be able to be admitted into a men’s club (#timesup!), and Lord knows we need men in every women’s living quarters and on every retreat to make women whole. Women NEEEEED men-who-believe-they’re-women in our clubs to make us, um, empowered or something, don’t you seeee, feminists?
Oh, wait.
To liberal-progressive SJWs, we all need to be equal all the time. Everywhere. In every forum, in every space. In every room, in every corner. Of every place, school, home, and business. At all costs. It’s so very Harrison Bergeron of them. (I wonder if any of them have ever actually read that, or if they’re too busy protesting in ridiculous hats to read and learn something on a college campus these days…)
I’ve read it. And it’s wack. Vonnegut meant for it to be.
I believe that women can and should have women’s clubs. I believe that men should have men’s clubs, too. Hell, I think man caves are essential for men, and I love me a good she-shed. The whole concept of girls’ night out isn’t just for an Instagram hashtag. It’s downright necessary, y’all. I believe in all-men’s colleges and all women’s colleges, too. And if you don’t like those clubs and groups and colleges because you think they’re unfair, unjust, or we all just need to inter-mingle ALL THE TIME? Well, don’t freaking join them. Don’t go to those colleges. Don’t have life-long interpersonal relationships with the same sex. Your choice.
But quit peeing on everyone else’s parade. Go organize your own parade. You can do that in this country, you know. You have choices, which is a wonderful, glorious thing. And one of those choices includes not to be a complaining, over-offended, social-justice-look-at-me-pretend-to-be-warrior-but-I’m-really-just-a-perpetual-whiiiiiiner!.
If you’re that, perhaps you could do something else with all the spare time you have. Maybe save an abandoned animal from a shelter. Or volunteer at a nursing home. Or deliver meals on wheels. Look around your community and find something useful. There are hundreds of organizations that would love to use all the energy that you’re choosing to channel into trying to get chicks into fraternities.
Honestly, where in the hell are these toddlers’ PARENTS? Good Lord.
