January 19, 2018We’re facing a government shutdown. The House passed a short-term spending bill that would buy time, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to move forward in the Senate. The measure needs 60 votes in the Senate. I just don’t see how that’s going to happen. A couple of Republicans aren’t on board, and I don’t see Democrats having a sudden change of heart.

Democrats want to attach protections for Dreamers in the measure. Republicans don’t. There are so many factors going into this.
One thing is for sure: If the government shuts down, Republicans are going to blame Democrats, and Democrats are going to blame Republicans.
I’m having a really hard time taking Democrats seriously right now. On one hand, they’re the ones who will cause this government shutdown. They’re using illegal immigrants as a bargaining chip, per usual. At the same time, they’re saying that people will DIE if we shut down the government.
Yep. We’re back to “PEOPLE WILL DIE!” again.
“Shutting down the government is a very serious thing. People die, accidents happen,” Sen. Feinstein said on CNN. “You don’t know. Necessary functions can cease. There is no specific list you can look at and make a judgment: ‘Well everything is going to be just fine.’ You can’t make that judgment. So, I think it’s a last resort. And I’m really hopeful we don’t get to it.”
Someone please explain to me how nonessential employees not working for a few days will lead to certain death.
If Feinstein isn’t sure if she’s voting for it, is she suggesting that she’s going to cause people to die? I’m having a hard time keeping track of her positions. She’s been changing them a lot over the past few days.
“I don’t know how I would vote right now on a CR, OK?” the California Democrat said.
But Feinstein’s uncertainty about whether she’ll back the legislation stands in contrast to a statement her office issued earlier Thursday stating Feinstein is opposed to the bill.
“I said in December that I wouldn’t vote for a CR without the Dream Act, and I won’t do so now,” she said in a statement.
That itself was a change from how Feinstein sounded on Wednesday, when she said she would vote for a continuing resolution if it was necessary.
What gives Feinstein?
I love when President Trump calls these chumps out. It’s my favorite.
