South Korean President Says President Trump Deserves ‘Big Credit’ For The Successful Meeting With North Korea

“OMG HE IS STARING A WAR!”

“North Korea is going to nuke us BECAUSE OF TRUMP.”

“Trump is literally going to kill us all.”

“He is unhinged. He’s poking Kim Jong-un on PURPOSE. People will dieeeeeee!”

We’ve heard it all. President Trump hasn’t been afraid to go after North Korea’s dictator directly. He remains unintimidated by the chubby weirdo. Liberals have been convinced that we’re about to break out into full-blown war at any minute, thanks to Trump.

South Korea’s singing a different tune.

North Korea and South Korea recently had a meeting. It was significant, because this was the the first real meeting the two countries have had in about two years. They decided that North Korea WLL participate in the Winter Olympics. They’re hoping it leads to more civility between the nations.

The two nations also agreed to hold military talks aimed at reducing animosity along their tense border and to “actively cooperate” in the Games, which open on Feb. 9 in PyeongChang some 50 miles from the boundary.

The sensitive discussions, held in Panmunjom, in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), were closed to outside observers.

“We have high expectations that the Olympics turn out to be a peace festival with special guests from the North.

While I don’t believe that this truly solves any problems with North Korea, I do think it proves that President Trump’s tactics are affecting North Korea in a significant way. Think about it. Why is North Korea suddenly willing to talk?

Believe it or not, South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in said Trump deserves credit.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in credited U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday for helping to spark the first inter-Korean talks in more than two years, and warned that Pyongyang would face stronger sanctions if provocations continued.

The talks were held on Tuesday on the South Korean side of the demilitarized zone, which has divided the two Koreas since 1953, after a prolonged period of tension on the Korean peninsula over the North’s missile and nuclear programs.

Wait. Here’s the best part.

“I think President Trump deserves big credit for bringing about the inter-Korean talks, I want to show my gratitude,” Moon told reporters at his New Year’s news conference. “It could be a resulting work of the U.S.-led sanctions and pressure.”

Who’s eating their words now, huh resisters?

“This initial round of talks is for the improvement of relations between North and South Korea. Our task going forward is to draw North Korea to talks aimed at the denuclearization of the North,” Moon added. “(It‘s) our basic stance that will never be given up.”

Good.

Moon said he was open to meeting North Korea’s leader at any time to improve bilateral ties, and if the conditions were right and “certain achievements are guaranteed”.

The purpose of it shouldn’t be talks for the sake of talks,” he said.

However, Pyongyang said it would not discuss its nuclear weapons with Seoul because they were only aimed at the United States, not its “brethren” in South Korea, nor Russia or China, showing that a diplomatic breakthrough remained far off.

Pffft. OK. Good to know North Korea is still FULL OF IT.

I still have a difficult time taking their decision (to allow NK to participate in the Olympics) seriously, but hey. It is what it is.

It’s certainly significant that Moon is giving Trump credit here.
