Caitlyn Jenner Scolds Piers Morgan After ‘Accidental’ Insult

Piers Morgan recently interviewed Caitlyn Jenner, and apparently, it was pretty awkward.

“You were an all-American, 6ft 2in muscle-bound guy. When you look at that guy what do you think?” Morgan asked.

“Good for him,” Jenner said. “There is a lot more to this story than just that.”

At one point, Morgan asked Jenner about his (I refer to Jenner as a “he” still, just so you guys know) gender reassignment surgery and was all, “How does your physique compare now. Obviously certain areas..?”

Jenner was OFFENDED.

“See you made a comment there and that is why you would get in trouble. OK?” Jenner said.

Apparently, “certain areas” is offensive.

“You just said, ‘Certain areas?’” Jenner said. “That to a trans person is disrespectful.”

It is? Why? What should’ve Morgan said instead? “So, your penis. It’s gone right? What does it feel like to have boobs?”

Like seriously? He was trying to ask in the most polite way possible.

Jenner continued: “It is not funny. It is life. It is a very serious part of my life. I take that very seriously and so out of respect to myself and the community it is not something that you joke about.”

“It is something as I said before… this is serious. You can die over this issue,” he added.

A lot of mental issues can lead to death. It’s ALL sad, but if you’re triggered by the phrase “certain areas,” you need to get a life. That’s not offensive. That’s actually a way of asking in a polite manner.

Morgan eventually apologized.

“I would not have known that. I was thinking I could make a flippant remark and I respect that,” he said.

“There is a lot of pain in my life that I dealt with and it was not a joke and all the things I have done I take very seriously as it affects a lot of people,” Jenner said, adding, “I thought about suicide. That is the easy way out. That is how low you can get.”

“Sometimes people do succeed in that and I thought, ‘How stupid is that?” Jenner continued. “I don’t want my voice to be silenced. I want my voice to be heard? And I want to see if I can make a difference.”

“Point taken,” Morgan said.

I truly feel for those struggling with mental illness, especially gender dysmorphia. I really do. It is serious, and it can lead to the unthinkable: Suicide. However, I don’t think the answer lies in policing certain words and phrases. That’s not the answer.
