Everyone Is Freaking Out At Taylor Swift Again… For The Dumbest Reason Yet

2017 was a great year for me. I became a full-time Chick (which has been an absolute DREAM), made awesome memories with my boyfriend, and got really close with my BFF Hannah. (Yes, Chicklet Hannah. We’re real life BFFs and life could not be more perfect.) Seriously could not hope for a better year.

Taylor Swift had an awesome year too. And she posted about it on social media, as many do.

Weeeeell, she’s getting ripped to SHREDS, because apparently having a good year personally means you’re SATAN, seeing as 2017 was the year ORANGE HITLER became president and ruined everyone’s lives forever, or something…

According to this:

Taylor Swift turned 28 years old on Wednesday and used the occasion to thank her fans on Instagram because she ‘couldn’t have asked for a better year’.

But social media users were unhappy with the mega pop star’s Instagram post, particularly in light of the spate of bad news and social upheaval that made 2017 once of the most tumultuous in recent memory.

‘I couldn’t have asked for a better year, all thanks to you,’ Swift wrote in her Instagram post from London.

‘Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Can’t wait to see what 28 will be like. See you on tour.’

Anyone thinking about themselves and themselves only would look at that list and think, Yeah, couldn’t have asked for a better year, but let’s now take a minute to see what 2017 looked like to the rest of the world: There were more than 400 mass shootings in the U.S., including one in Las Vegas where 58 people were killed and 489 wounded. The Manchester Bombing, which took place during an Ariana Grande concert, took 23 lives. This past hurricane season was the most expensive in U.S. history, and parts of Puerto Rico still don’t have power. There’s a storm of sexual harassment allegations being brought up against high-powered men across industries, yet we still have a predator in one of the most powerful offices in the world threatening the rights of the marginalized almost daily. And those are only the first things that come to mind.

So, sure, the rest of the world is up in flames (some parts literally), but at least Swift is back and better than ever!

So no, it’s just not the creepy basement dwellers of social media. It’s every liberal outlet that every liberal college moron gets all of their “real and socially aware” info from.

It’s enough to make your head spin.

So no. You are NOT allowed to have a personally gratifying year… because that means you’re HITLER. It’s so obvious.

And while I’m obviously no Taylor Swift…I’ve actually dealt with some of this myself.

My caption was “It’s been a great year! …excited to see what 2018 has in store!”

Weeeeelll…. I got a message from someone I used to know in grad school letting me know she was disappointed that I would “stoop so low.” She said this post was rubbing it in the faces of all those who are “fearing for their lives” due to this “oppressive regime” that “stereotypical Republicans” like me have nothing to worry about.

I didn’t waste my breath reminding her that I am in no way a “stereotypical Republican.”  I told her I hope her life gets better soon, blocked her, and continued on with my day.

But yeah… these people are completely and totally unhinged.
