Rep. Al Green is one of the bigger blowhards in congress (and that’s saying a lot).
He was one of the reps who recently filed those ridiculous articles of impeachment against President Trump for no legitimate reason other than to earn a couple of points from their most rabid constituents.
He’s also a pretty hard-core race baiter…. and has been for YEEEEARS. He did the whole “hands up, don’t shoot” thing every chance he got.
What I’m getting at is yes, I am biased against Rep Al Green because he represents everything I hate about Democrats… but either way… I think this is ULTRA fishy.
Rep. Green has released a completely unprompted statement claiming a woman who had previously accused him of sexual misdeeds is a close friend, and that they had a “romantic” relationship.
A new, out-of-nowhere statement from @RepAlGreen.
Spox: “The attached statement is in reference to a circumstance that occurred in 2008. This circumstance did not involve the Cong. Office, nor the Office of Employment Counsel & did not involve the use of any taxpayer money.” pic.twitter.com/EkK9XrwXDL— Mike DeBonis (@mikedebonis) November 27, 2017
Uhhh….ok?
Did he think this makes him look less guilty? If anything, it makes it look like something major’s about to drop. There’s an accuser out there he’s really worried about, so he figured he’d get this little incident out of the way so that it can’t be used against him when the REAL STUFF comes to light.
At least, that’s what this looks like.
If that’s NOT the case… well then yeah, this was really poorly thought out.
Texas Rep. Al Green, in a random statement released Monday, insisted drama surrounding a relationship he had years ago with a former aide in Houston “has been resolved.”
The statement, signed by Green, a Democratic representative who has called for the impeachment of President Trump several times, and the aide, Lucinda Daniels, said the two “have long been friends.”
“In the present climate, we wish to jointly quiet any curious minds about our former and present relationship with one another,” the statement read.
The comments seemingly stemmed from a “romantic encounter” the two had years ago, which later led to a claim Daniels made in 2008 which alleged Green sexually assaulted her.
Green filed and then withdrew a lawsuit against Daniels alleging she said she would sue him for discrimination in the workplace if he didn’t compensate her, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The statement added that the situation “has been resolved without payment of any money or transfer of any consideration of any kind by either of us to the other. As friends, we have both agreed that we see no need to make further statements regarding this absolutely resolved matter.”
It’s all fishy to me. So odd.
