Love or hate Sarah Palin (I think she’s awesome, personally) you gotta give her points for this…
She was asked if she’s been a victim of sexual harassment, and didn’t skip a beat.
Former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin said that she’s been a victim of sexual harassment at the workplace because her co-workers know she carries a weapon.
‘I think a whole lot of people know I’m probably packing so I don’t think there’s a whole lot of people who would necessarily mess with me,’ Palin said during an interview with MSNBC on Thursday.
Don’t mess with Texas Alaska.
She continues:
‘I don’t mean to be lighthearted, this is a serious issue,’ Palin continued, adding that she unequivocal condemns sexual harassment, an issue that has dominated the national conversation in recent weeks.
‘It really stinks for women in the workplace that for too long, men have thought they can get away with that old-school thinking that it’s okay to belittle and harass women.’
The former Vice Presidential candidate spoke to MSNBC before a meeting with Republican Kentucky Senator Rand Paul on Capital Hill.
Palin’s comments came just hours after Senator Al Franken (D-MN) was accused of sexual misconduct by KABC radio personality Leeann Tweeden, who accused the lawmaker of groping her while the two were on a USO tour in 2006.
And while she acknowledges how important battling sexual harassment is, she also realizes it’s important we are careful about widespread and partisan accusations.
‘It’s not a partisan issue,’ Palin commented. ‘When we see this happening today, I think it leads to a lot of questions about what standards are going to be applied to whom.’
Palin warned, however, that as allegations continue to mount, the potential for innocent individuals to be caught in the mix rises.
‘The floodgates are really open right now,’ she said. ‘That could lead to a lot of false accusations that really harm an innocent person.’
I agree with her 100%
