The Democrats have OFFICIALLY introduced articles of impeachment against President Trump.
Congressman Steve Cohen and other members of Congress held a news conference to discuss the articles.
Oh boy. Here we go.
A group of six Democratic House members introduced articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump Wednesday, claiming the president has violated federal law, the public trust and should be charged with high crimes and misdemeanors.
Democratic Reps. Steve Cohen of Tennessee, Louis Gutierrez of Illinois, Al Green of Texas and Adriano Espaillat of New York five articles of impeachment at a press conference at the Capitol Wednesday. The articles have two more co-sponsors: Reps. Marcia Fudge of Ohio and John Yarmuth of Kentucky.
Why? For what? well…. I’m not totally sure. I don’t know that they are, either.
The congressmen list a number of charges against the president, including: obstruction of justice, a violation of the Constitution’s foreign emoluments clause, a violation of the Constitution’s domestic emoluments clause, undermining the federal judiciary process and undermining the press.
The articles focus primarily on Trump’s handing of the termination of former FBI Director James Comey, and potential conflicts of interest with Trump’s businesses and properties while he’s served as president.
….seriously. I mean, it’s always SOMETHING, right?
James Comey no longer inspired trust in the American people. He THEN leaked information to the media. Trump was totally right to fire him. FBI directors have been fired before.
This really feels like grasping at straws to me.
Notice they didn’t even MENTION the Russia thing, because they know their crap is falling apart.
A spokesman for the RNC has commented:
“House Democrats lack a positive message and are completely unwilling to work across the aisle, so instead they’ve decided to support a baseless radical effort that the vast majority of Americans disagree with. Republicans are focused on issues the middle class actually cares about, like cutting taxes and growing the economy,” Michael Ahrens, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee, said in a statement to The Daily Caller News Foundation.
This is only the beginning. This isn’t even about Trump. This is about the growing divide between Democrats and Republicans… between Liberals and Conservatives… that is tearing our country apart.
Will the Dems EVER respect a Republican’s presidency again? Or is this rift too wide?
Eventually, something will HAVE to give…but I worry about what it will take to get us there.
